CONGRATS!!!!!!!! How exciting for you and your daughter!
The breeder should provide you w/ registration info. (is he AKC?) and he should come with a health contract - did the breeder already talk about that? My breeder also had a "sale" form that we both signed.
As far as harnesses, you want to get a "step-in" harness, which doesn't come near the neck at *all* (yorkies are prone to tracheal collapse, so you never want to use the collar for leashing). I wouldn't bathe more than once a week or the skin will dry out - I bathe my guys about once every 2 weeks. Oatmeal shampoos are nice; just anything that is not too harsh.
As far as pet ins. - it can be very smart to get it if you would not be able to afford an emergency or a surgery; in other words, a very expensive incident. If you would be able to afford a very expensive event (2-5,000 $), then they say don't get insurance.
You should have Nutrical at home - it is a vitamin paste that tastes good and is available at Petsmart/Petco. It is always great for sick dogs - but it is also good for new puppies who are under stress and may be under-eating. Also, since yorkie puppies are so prone to hypoglycemia, you can give it immediately if they seem shaky/weak *at all*. When I first got Marcel, who was a tiny, I gave him Nutrical for the 1st two weeks before he went to bed and 1st thing in the morning - just to help keep his blood sugar up and to give him some extra vitamins during his transition.
So, GOOD LUCK! There is a wealth of info here at YT - so take a look around and ask more questions if you have them.
