I used to have a female dog (she was a big rescue dog) who always ate her own poop even when frozen on the ground.
Ever had popcicle turds? It drove us crazy. Not much we could do about it but make her stop when we saw it. Roxie can't get far enough away from anyones poo...she'll be running across the grass and come upon a pile and jump as high as she can to avoid it. It's really quite funny how quick this happens. The problem I do have with her is that she will go downstairs to the cat box. That's just plain nasty. She's not even allowed down there and she knows it. I've heard it's because cats digest whole pieces of food. Still yuck...drives me crazy because her bowl has food in it all the time so why would she want that?
