Keep him as corraled as you can
with the pads available to him
whenever you see him go on the pad treat him and praise him lavishly
Keep an eye out
when he sets to go to the bathroom
and it's easier to catch him preparing to poop than pee
shuttle him off to his pads
It's a repetitive process .... he'll get it eventually
