Here is what I would do in your situation..........take him out in the morning and the evening for at least a mile walk each time and increase the distance a little each week till your up to a couple of miles each time. Next I would either find a play-date group or start one so he has other tiny dogs to play with once a week. Generally the moms all take turns having it. Then once a week at your family's home. Then if you have any other free time, take him to Petco or Petsmart and just brouse. No way will he be bored if he has all this to do all week.
