I find many people think their dog is trained, but really it is them that is trained to take the dog out at certain times of the day. Accidents occur when the dog drank extra water after playing etc and you don't know they need to go out.

For us Punkin lets us know when she has to go out. That way we can forget about it until she comes and tells us.

It was a little frustrating trying to get to that point though. Nothing like mopping up pee etc to make a fur mommy aggravated.

Consistency helps and for us making a huge fuss (praise) over Punkin everytime she peed and pooped outside worked really well. We tell her she is a great girl and we are proud of her in a higher pitched voice so that that she knows we are talking to her. She is 3 1/2 now and we still praise her.

Punkin makes a little whine noise when she needs to go out, but I know people who use a bell at the door for their dog to signal they need potty.

Keep working at it and it will happen for you and your little guy.
