The sense of smell is the most developed in a dog..that is the only sense they have at the beginning of life. Then they develop hearing and last sight. I was watching the Dog Whisperer and that is what he said.
I had a litter of six who lost their mother at birth many year ago. I would tip toe into the room and sit by the box..within a few minutes the pups noses would start twitch, heads would pop up and they would start crying for "mother"...I was mother. Their eyes and ears were still sealed shut. I bottle fed all 6 until weaning time. My two girls could sit by the box and watch them sleep and they never woke.. |
