I have officially given up - Julien won't give in no matter how guilty I make him feel. I'm very upset by it though - afterall, I don't ask for much... We're common law, and I'm fine with that - I've never nagged him to get married and have a big wedding and I don't bug him to have children (because neither of us wants them). We don't go on vacation very much because there's very few people I trust to watch Deegan. My pets are my kids... I did sit him down and ask him when or if he would ever agree to another dog, and he said the only way is to get it as a puppy at 12 weeks so that we can raise it completely.
So I guess that's the route I will have to take even though I feel terrible that I can't save Kricket. But I also don't want to guilt Julien into saying yes, and bring the new dog home only for Julien to recent him.
Hopefully one day I'll be able to get him to understand how important adopting a rescue is... |
