I didn't even think about an introduction. Never occurred to me, & maybe this helped. If you are fearful or whatever, he may sense it, & react accordingly.

I do remember singing, to distract Gus, as I lowered him into a sink with knee high warm water. I don't remember the name of the song, but Squirt howled as I sang.

I never give Squirt a bath. He gets a shower once a month.
