Sick Yorkie- Problem Seems Difficult to Diagnose Hi all,
I am new to this board and desperate to help our little dog. She is 6.5 years old. We took her in about a month ago because she had been throwing up, then peeing in the house. The vet tested her urine and found sugar, but not UTI. So, we did a blood test but no diabetes...it came up with a rare disease called primary Renal Glycosuria. He said it could be a result of a UTI that was not caught in the urine sample. So, we put her on antibiotics. We tried three different ones over the 10 day span because they kept making her throw up. We tested her urine again and it was bettter...no problems. But because she was stilli going in the house, the vet put her on estrogen. She was doing great and we thought all was well. Last night, she kept waking up to go outside, about every hour. She peed 5 times in the house in the matter of 5 minutes. She has been really thirsty and has thrown up everything she drinks in the form of a watery mucous. So, now I don't know what to think. I really thought she was cured...now she is back to peeing in the house and throwing up. I am going to call the vet again, but if you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them. We are expecting in 5 days and I know with a new baby this is going to be harder and harder to handle. Thank you!!! |
