Default Yorkie hge

My Verdelle has been so sick over the last 2 months with HGE, vomiting jelly blood and pooping out his red blood cells, my 14 year old son witnessed this and I am sure you can imagine how horrific it was for him to see our furbaby so sick. We had Verdelle to the vet overnight and then 2 days later back again for 2.5 days more of IV therapy, he recovered with some antibiotics and back to regular diet, than, 3 weeks later, sick again, we caught it so quick, 2 days on IV and 10 days on antibiotic, just the week before Christmas, he is doing well now, we hope, I don't think we can do it again to be honest, I was beside myself with stress over the holidays as our vet wants him on Medi-cal bland diet only and nothing, absolutely nothing else for a minimum of sick months so with Christmas and treats and kids spilling on the floor I was pretty on edge. He seems to be better, but we went thru this before, we don't know what caused it, his treats and people food habit or something else, he was so very sick, he couldn't lift his head, he just wanted me and I couldn't stay over at the vet, we went in several times to the Animal Hospital to feed him as he wouldn't eat without us. I'm sorry to go on but this was so very horrible, do not play with this, your baby can die-and it happens so fast and they dehydrate so quickly, our Verdie is 7 pds and within hours he was very down, I can't imagine a real tiny Yorkie having this when they have nothing to lose-be careful, right to the Vet, the jelly they are pooping and vomiting is their blood-they overproduce blood cells to try to help the dehydration and it can be fatal-treatment is IV therapy, NOT SUBQ fluids, and antibiotics to heal the belly when the food can be kept down, this is not a quick fix, make sure they send your baby home healthy the first time, we had a nightmare experience with our dog and no one should have to see their pet go thru this once let alone twice in 3 days and then again 3 weeks later.
Lots of info online, read it-pls!!!
