I imagine that just like us, the scars and hard tissue will fade after a while.
I had a fall on the ice last year and had a HUGE knot on my forehead that looked like a goose egg. My doctor told me that eventually my body would "absorb" it, and sure enough it did. For a couple of months, though, I had this ugly knot.
