Ones I've bougthen at 5 mos have bitten and had more problems, so, I'm one that really does NOT believe in this "letting mama teach them crap". A lot of it has to do with the dog period. I would get a health gurantee from the lady that you're getting the pup from, that if there is anything wrong with the puppy that you get your money back.
Good luck with the pup!
I too have always got pups at 7-8 weeks and have never had health/bite/behavioural issues due to them leaving their mother too young. Mika was 7 weeks when we brought her home and she has not had any health issues and has NEVER even so much as nipped anyone not even playfully she is a very sociable well adjusted little dog and extremely bonded to us. She never had any anxiety leaving her mother and siblings, I believe due to the fact that she left them at 7 weeks old. I do think that tiny pups need alittle more time with their mother but Mika was already 2lbs at 7 weeks and 5.5lbs at 12 weeks An extra week or two with his parents won't hurt though, I know you are eager to get him home and start loving him and I'm sure being an only pup and a c-section that he is gonna be a big boy but I'm sure it must be cold there in January and alittle extra weight may be a good thing
