This is some prior info I gathered when considering bringing Stewie into China...
At Customs in China you need to provide a residence at which you will be living with your dog (not a hotel, they won't accept hotels). You need to declare them and then they will be quarantined for 15-30 days depending on their size and weight. After that, you need to pay $200 to get them released from the state quarantine facility and you need to take them to a local police station in China to have them registered - only a resident of China can register a dog.
In my research, I think its just too risky/dangerous to bring them there.
