I believe yorkie tail docking was originally done to prevent the tail from being injured during ratting/hunting. I do think docking makes a yorkie look in balance more so than with natural tails. Also, done early enough and properly there shouldn't be much pain (if any) for the puppy involved. If the breeder were to wait and ask the new puppy owners their preference, it would be too late and would require surgery to be done.

We have quite a few YT members with yorkie tails left natural and they are very cute either way.
