It's probably worth noting that sometimes very high protein isn't that great for an animal either. If a pet's kidneys are not particularly strong, it can be problematic for those organs. Really, the best pet food is a food that works well for YOUR particular dog. I'm a big proponent of people doing regular bloodwork on their pets just to keep on top of these sorts of things-- I had a pet who was on EVO for a while and looked to be doing great until I had some bloodwork run, and it turned out his kidney values were elevated-- the protein level in the food was just too high for him. EVO is a great food for a lot of animals, but not all of them.
