you definitely need to confine him when you're not home. more likely than not, he won't go to the bathroom in his crate. if you're gone for really long periods of time though, try to get him an x-pen or a playpen to leave him in. to train him, you have to be consistent. let him out every 2 hours or even more. and everytime after he eats. he's still young and his bladder is small. consistency & schedule is the key.
