for me it really depends on their looks and personalities. I've had four dogs so far: Shorty, Rainer, Dolly and Chipper. Rainer and Dolly are the yorkies, and both of them are quiet, calm, well, girlie girls, so I gave them girlie names. Shorty is my gal chi, but she is the townboy type, and Chipper is the only boy that I've had so far, and oh boy, don't I know the difference!
