Did the vet tell you to wait or the vet tech? Vet techs only have to have one year of vet education and one of general studies to get a degree. Some are very good and some are not. They may not have any experience whatsoever. I just talk to the vet right away instead of trying to figure out if they have enough experience to answer my question...
If he is getting better, everything may be fine but if Ellie was limping for even a day or two, I think I'd take her in just to make sure everything was okay.
