If there is a Puppy lemon Law for Ca. then you do not need to have anything in writing. Just READ the law and see what It covers. You can usually do a search under Puppy lemon laws and Ca. and it should pop up.
BUT if you sign a paper saying you agree to the 5 month guarantee then this will void the states law. Also......if this is just a person with a litter the state law will probably not apply to her. You need to check out what your state does. in my state it covers pets shops and breeders who are registered with a kennel license , which is only needed is the person sells over a certain amount of dogs per year.
