I have a African Grey and a wild weaver. The weaver stays in his cage all the time and if I let the African Grey out then I make sure that the Cat is out.He still catches mice and wild birds so seems to get his joy there.Did I mention I have rats too.The trick is to be vigilant and not take chances.Cats have the instinct to hunt.I also lock my cages with a clip so they can't escape. My cat used to look at the cage until the bird bit him,If they get bitten they seem to stay away and stick to the outside birds. Also if you hang the cage on one of those stands the cat should not be able to get to the bird, make sure the stand is secure and can't be knocked over.
