Re leaning/dominance:   
I had a Great Dane once upon a time (another *wonderful* dog!) ... he would get between me and the door, or between me and someone he didn't know. He never was agressive, but he would always gently lean on me. It took a bit for me to figure it out, but what he was doing with the "lean" was establishing *exactly* where I was. I didn't see it as a dominance thing so much as it was a protection thing.   
My Yorkies will bring a toy or two and sit by my feet and play with them. Sometimes they come up on the couch and snuggle alongside me, snoozing. I have never seen it as a dominance issue ... and always as a desire on their part just to be near me.
