Sadie has a silk coat and she matts often... I take a scissor and cut through the knot. I make a few cuts... than I comb it out. You can't see where it's been cut because it blends in. Instead of cutting the knot across where you might see a chunk... cut down and though, like the scissors where facing the floor. It works well and you can still keep their hair a bit longer and cute!
