Erin and Toby new members with questions... Hi everyone-
I am glad to have found this forum. I have a 8 month old Yorkie-Poo, named Toby aka Tobius. He really is a very sweet, active dog- but can be aggressive at times. I have a few issues that I am trying to correct when it comes to Toby, and have made my way to the forum for advice.
He is pretty much potty trained on training pads, every once in a while he has an accident. But recently within the past couple of weeks he has been peeing on the couch. Today I was sitting on the couch, he jumped up, I told him no, he barked at me as he usually does when I say no. He then proceeded to lift his leg and pee, luckily I caught him before he soiled it too much. Any suggestion as to why he might be doing this as of lately? I have never seen him lift his leg before, this is a new act, because when he pees on the pads he squats.
I tried cleaning the microfiber cover with vinegar and water, that did not work. I then used natures miracle and it still smells. What should I do to get rid of the smell? Any advice would be great.
Also- is it too late to get him neutered I read that 4-6 months is the best time. Is it too late at 8 months?
I am considering taking him to a training facility that will train him within a week, and then have me come to the facility and they will train me (teach me commands/demeanor/etc). Toby feels he is the pack leader and I need to gain control, because he can be very disobedient at times. I know I am the one that needs the training to become the dominant one.
I know I have a lot of issues with my little one, but I want to correct them before it is too late.
Thanks for listening and thanks in advance for any advice/suggestions.
