My Wylie had this for ages - and the vet kept saying the ears looked fine. Finally went to a new vet and she thought there was too much "gunk" deep within. She didn't even want to bother culturing it, she just gave me a broad spectrum ear ointment that would treat WHATEVER was in there, whether it was an infection or yeast or whatever. One round of treatment - and boom, his ears have been completely different ever since.
