I just remembered a couple of more...
-Silica gel packs - these come in all sorts of electronics, so be careful. They are used to keep moisture out of the product. My son had one in his Guitar Hero box last year. While they probably won't kill a yorkie, they can cause some serious gastrointestinal issues, and as well all know, a little diarrhea can be fatal for the tiny ones.
-doors - with everyone coming and going in and out..if you have a potential runner, you might consider an xpen around the front door. While it might be inconvenient, it could prevent tragedy. Be especially careful if people set off firecrackers around you. This freaks most of our littles out!
