i really believe crate training is the way to go! otherwise, you have to watch them like a hawk to make sure they don't go and it's nearly impossible to potty train them. when you can put them in the crate, they naturally (usually) won't go where they sleep so they hold it while they're in there. plus, it's kind of like a safe place for them to go, like their den. my jackson (he's about 9 weeks, almost 10) has been doing great! he sleeps in his crate at night and lately he's been waking me up around 4am to potty by barking at me. so i take him right out, and he goes! i give him his treat and he goes right back in the crate back to bed. then this morning he woke back up around 8am and started barking again to go. usually at this point, i let him come in after going potty and have playtime in my room. it's a schedule i've got him on, where it's constantly an hour or so in the crate (unless i'm gone and not home, it's longer) and then outside, playtime, back in the crate, repeat, lol |
