Ryder has the finest silk coat I have ever seen, I have NEVER seen even one tiny mat in it. So the answer I guess is no, and I have had his hair pretty long and it was still fine under clothes. I brush him in the morning, put his clothes on, and then in the evening I take them off, brush him again, and put his jammies on! So spoiled
Now if I left something like that on Ranger, it would be mat central!
