You can effectively work with one on your lap, that’s for sure - I do it all the time. It is easier when they are a little older though, and more interested in being lap dogs and not as interested in playing all the time.
I think small dogs are accepted all over the place now, from what I've seen (yorkies in carriers in grocery stores and other shops). Most apartments will take small dogs now as well, so I dont think it will be too much of a logistical issue when you graduate and relocate. You can study and play fetch at the same time, its called Multi-tasking and you can add it to your resume!

thank you for your support, i thought long and hard about my decision,it was not just a whim...i have taken every precaution in making sure my pup is treated fairly, i made my schedule around her, got her on a break from school,also she is basically the perfect dog!! pottytrained almost one hundred percent in no time! and the biggest lapdog ever,she is good as gold!!not a barker at all and loves her crate!
