Default I think you can do it from what you have told us

Since your boyfriend is helping while you are at class, I don’t see a problem. I have been out of college and grad school for a long time, but I could have taken care of a dog back then, assuming that it was not an issue for the roommates (and it might have been, since yorkies tend to bark a lot under the right circumstances, but you would have checked this out or maybe you live on your own).

You can effectively work with one on your lap, that’s for sure - I do it all the time. It is easier when they are a little older though, and more interested in being lap dogs and not as interested in playing all the time.

I think small dogs are accepted all over the place now, from what I've seen (yorkies in carriers in grocery stores and other shops). Most apartments will take small dogs now as well, so I dont think it will be too much of a logistical issue when you graduate and relocate. You can study and play fetch at the same time, its called Multi-tasking and you can add it to your resume!

Good Luck!
