My husband builds me some bottomless whelping boxes and they are great. I lay a heating pad down then put a couple of sheets over that, then I position the whelping box so the heating pad is on one side. This works so great because you don't have to worry about the puppies getting tangled in the bedding. Before I started using this type of box I was always waking up to crying puppies that were tangled up in the bedding because the momma would dig in the bedding and cover them up. Sometimes I will put a small fleece blanket loose in the box. I have attached a picture of one of the whelping boxes. |
