Let me see if I can answer your questions. The Biewers are pretty new to the US. As it has been explained to me from some of the Germans it is pronouned Beaver- as the w are v's in their language. Yes, they are a registered breed in Germany- AKC doesn't reconginize the breed. Their background and history is that of a regular yorkie as they are a yorkie, their coloring comes from a recessive gene called a "pie bald gene" that was mutated to develop the coloring. Everyone of us had to learn about the breed, so no one is ignorant at all. Hope this helps....
