You can try a little gingersnaps to help with the upset tummy if that continues to be a problem.
We have car seats for the kids so that they are secure and safe but can see out the windows. Perhaps if he could see the sites he might not whine so much. And be sure to take him on car rides that "end" with something fun to do. If every time he gets in the car something traumatic happens then he will be afraid of car rides.
Boo, loves to
go places, but isn't crazy about the whole 'getting there' part. So he does a little whine nearly the whole time.
Gracie Ruth, loves it all. The ride, the going places, the seeing of the sites. Has from day one.
Yogi, he's still unsure about it all. He does get car sick, so we've been working on doing short, 3-4 blocks, trips to the park for walks, to the pet store to see things, to play dates, etc... He's doing better, not sick every time now, so I have hope he'll out grow it. Now if I can just teach my DH to drive like a normal person and not a race car driver on a road course. zig-zag-zip-zoom.

We've also discovered that Yogi may be a front seat only passenger, just like some people have to sit in the front in order to not get car sick. The times he hasn't been sick, he's been in the front seat of the car and not in the back.
Good luck!
