There are many web hosts out there. You should back up your website files to your hard drive before you make the switch. You sign up with a new host, tell them what your URL is and they should do the programming for you. If not, they will tell you how. They will give you the name server info. You go to your old host, enter the name server info and the switch should happen. If your site is registered at Network Solutions, you enter the name server info there. I would recommend GoDaddy.com as a host. It is cheap and the support is good. Their website is a bit intimidating at first but like I say, the support is good. As far as free hosting sights go, I can't make any recommendations. I do a lot of website design and have changed hosts several times, I'm just sharing what I know. Good luck!
