My little Rowdy is 4 lbs. too. My daughter has a 12 lb cat and Rowdy and the cat get along famously. Of course, not at first. The cat had to hiss and moan for a while - but eventually (a few hours) the cat and Rowdy became best of friends and now they play like best buds. The cat is only a year and a half old though - I don't know how it might be with older cats. I might be more concerned with the pit bull puppy - I had a Jack Russell puppy a few years ago and at 3 months old that pup would pounce on ANY other dog, big or little. If the pup is a problem though, it would seem that you could ask your friend to ask her boyfriend to refrain from bringing the pup over for 3 weeks. That's not that long.
