i can see where the OP is coming from
i had a german shepherd when i was married and he was champion sired and cost us $350 ... i DO think yorkies (especially well bred yorkies from reputable breeders) are expensive but it was my personal choice to spend the money and in no way did i feel like i was entitled to one or one at a discount
... it took saving up money and making sure i had enough in case of emergencies (which has happened twice so far in a little less than a year - both emergencies due to the spay and neuter procedures)
i would love to have 5-6 yorkies but i also know my financial limits and i "plan" for the worst case scenario and make sure i would be able to get all the care my little ones needed should something arise ... in other words, i make sure i would have the money if *heaven forbid* each of them had an emergency at the same time because they are my babies and my life and i would do anything i had to for them
