Crate training is most effective overnight, and many dogs you can train in a very short time by placing them in a crate overnight and placing them either on a pad in the morning or outside, and praising them after they go. With a puppy, you usually have to get up at least once in the night, and place on a pad or outside, I kept Joey in a crate next to the bed. You can't expect a puppy to hold it all night. I just noticed he's only 10 weeks old, please be patient, 6 months is average, and many dogs don't like to poop and pee on the same pad, so using two pads sometimes works.
