Good switch. I did the same thing as well!
I used to have Sasha on Nutro. She started with the puppy formula and then got switched to the Adult Small Bites. When I joined this forum though and did some research, I found out it wasn't as good as I thought it was. I now use Solid Gold Small Bites for my girl and she absolutely loves it. The Nutro did make her coat really soft, but the Solid Gold seems to have made it even better.
I've heard great things on this forum about California Natural so great switch in my opinion!
