I concur with your thoughts.
Shipping is occasionally done by good breeders who have talked to buyer extensively. Flying to get the pup and take it in cabin is much better.
I wouldn't consider a pup before 10 weeks and that even tells me they may not care about the YTCA guidelines, so 12 weeks is much better.
No pics of parents and screening results for parents and their breeding lines would be a no go.
