It's great that you posted this petition - people should definitely be able to take their pets with them. For the Rita evacuation, at least some of the people were allowed to take their pets on the buses, and here in Austin, we had pet friendly shelters. For those people who were at shelters and couldn't take their pets to the shelters, the Austin city humane society, kept the pets for them. I heard that it all worked out really well, so it can be done with minimal problems, if the powers that be will just listen.
