Alfie is very protective of his toys so I was thinking he may not like sharing and even be a little jealous. With other dogs (and all have been bigger than him) he lays down and gives them the floor, never aggresive at all. I hope he is more protective like she is his little baby more than anything...

My husband and I never crated Alfie, but we may do with Evie just to keep them seperate at night, during the day my husband is home to watch the two of them together, but I have been looking into purchasing a gate to split the room just until she is bigger and Alfie can be trusted.
As far as the couch and bed, I was worried about that too, Alfie can jump up onto anything and down from as well... We always say he must be part Cat..LOL

But with our new little one, she will need help - I am going to look into buying some stairs, but do you think she may take after Alfie and try to jump off things?

We were also *very* careful when we were all on the sofa together bc a fall from there for Marcel could've killed him (we have stairs for the sofa and our bed, for him). Once he became more sturdy and they learned how to play together safely, we no longer gated them separately. Marcel's adult weight is 3.3 lbs - so he's still small, but they do just great together! |
