Even though most females are ready on day 9, maybe she isn't. My boy knows what to do and has fathered many litters, but when my girls are not quite there yet he even mounts their heads and their sides. When they are ready, he know exactly what end is the right one.
If you feel she is ready you will have to get help, one person holds her the other him and then you might have to guide him.
