When I was first introduced to yorkies, I was attracted to the long silky hair that drop all the way down on the floor, bold and rich colors, etc. the proper yorkie look, you know.
After I got my first yorkie Rainer, I couldn't wait till her hair grew long like how it looked in the magazines. then reality hit, while she has straight silky hair with rich colors, her hair was very thin, after the hair reached a certain length, it looked really weird. so I cut her back to the puppy cut, she was so very cute in a short style, but I still had disappointment, I want a yorkie.
then I got my second yorkie Dolly, she is everything I have dreamed of. silky thick hair, big beautiful eyes, short nose, long legs, steel blue on the back...
she was already 8 months the time I got her, and she had very long hair for her age. I was so excited and I kept her in a show coat, well, until the next summer came, the weather got hot, and I got busy with work, Dolly wasn't enjoying her hair as much as before, either were I due to the fact that I couldn't keep up with the daily grooming job and she started to mat. so after all, I have to deal with reality again, I made the painful decision of cutting her down. she still looked like a doll after the cut, but its just not the same any more.
I've been keep cutting her down every couple of month now. its def. easier to maintain. but I know that, deep down I still want a yorkie with full coat, its just sooooo beautiful. but for the same reason most other pet yorkie owners kept their babies in short cut, I don't think its feasible for me to maintain a full coat yorkie, daily brushing, coat wrapping, unwrapping and brushing again, top knot needs to be done daily, and so on.
I don't know if I can deal with all that work. but I certainly miss having a yorkie with the proper look. and I really wanna know, yorkie lovers, whats the reason you love yorkies in general, not just your own?
