Sammy did that once - she ripped out her band and barrette and it took a huge chunk of hair out. It did finally re-grow. I only use the covered elastics (I have them on my website) because they don't take chunks of hair with them! I find them all over my house, as they do come out quickly with rough play, but I find that if she messes up her hair a little I have to re-do it anyway so I'd rather it just come all the way out and not rip her hair.
I also found these bows which have velvet on the clip and so far so good
Pink Hippo Bows I ordered the infant size. We have a store in a nearby town but they sell them online too. I just can't trust Sammy to be unsupervised with a french clip bow any more
