This is a common problem with first time breeders. Many males get over anxious and mount the wrong end. He will eventually figure it out. Your next problem after getting him on the right end will be getting him to tie her.

In reality, most breeders have a backup stud. When I have a male that is not experienced I will work with him for a few days in an attempt to let him breed a female but if after a few days he has not succeeded I will just breed the female with an experienced male. It is also possible for the male to have an outside tie and the female can still get pregnant. When I first started breeding Yorkies my male was only able to achieve outside ties but he eventually got the hang of it.

How big is the male you are using? I really recommend the male be at least a year old before using them for breeding, especially if the male is on the small side.
