My little boy follows me, too. He doesn't necessarily want to touch me ... in fact, he's usually aloof. But I can't leave the room, even if it's an adjoining room where he can see me. He will get up and follow me, lying down nearby until I'm ready to leave again.
He will follow me back to the bathroom, peek around the corner to ensure my destination
, then trot up the stairs to the bed to wait for my departure.
I think it's pretty normal, and very endearing
