I had both my girls done at a VERY young age, Chanel's breeder usually chips the pups herself though she wanted to wait with Chanel because she way REALLY tiny, but ready to come home with us, so she gave me the microchip and told me that i could either come back to her so she would place the chip, or i could take the chip to our vet and have him do it, i think she was around 14 weeks when we took her to our vet, they do it fast, but yes its painful, i cried with both my girls, i was really chicken and stood behind my husband while they were doing it, i balled my eyes out!!

REMEMBER that after the chip is placed NOT to rub it like you would after a vaccination, chances are that you rub the chip out and they will have to redo it!
