She's not congested like she used to be, so she's not taking Robitussin right now. My vet said that in dogs this small kennel cough can hang on for several months. He's checked her lungs and stuff and she's fine there, so we're just hanging in there and waiting.
Last week she started with the runny nose and eyes again, and no appetite AT ALL, I basically had to force feed her! And the vet diagnosed her with tonsillitis that time (thus the reason she's on Baytril now) in addition to the remnants of kennel cough that she has. I could feel her swollen tonsils, but they've obviously gone down now.
Just hang in there, Gracie would get better then worse then better then worse, it's been a constant up and down for two months. Right now she's better than she has been the entire time so I'm hopeful she is finally kicking it! |
yes beaker also still has kennel cough too,, ... he too has that same cough in the mornings.... i never got meds from the vet in the beging cause i read that it can clear up on its own and when i told the vet he said yes that it could.... its not like it was 2 months ago, but there is still that little cough in the morning....but sence it has been 2 months now, i went and had x-rays done just to check for a collasped trachie...nope... so glad.... i too give beaker childrens Robitussin dm... it seems to help a little...but beaker hates it... when he lays down at night you can hear like a little clicking sound when he breaths.... the vet said its congestion sounds... i hope this clears up with beaker and everyones babys that have this problem....good luck all
