My yorkies aren't litter mates, but had lived together in the past. It took them about a week and a half for the more dominant to accept that the younger one was part of our family. But after that they were great.
However, I also don't really believe in bad dogs so much as I do Lazy owners. . .
So if you are firm and structured with you furbabies you will lead the pack and have a lot less aggression issues. |
That is a really great point you make! I am a bit of a softie -- but have been watching the Dog Whisperer for some "calm, assertive energy" tips.....so I can be pack leader.
When we got our shihtzus last year, there was three puppies in total in the litter.....I took two and my aunt took one. For the first two months, I had all three puppies at my home training them (my aunt didn't really want to train a puppy). The third was a male also -- and the two little males would get in some terrible fights. It got to a point that my aunt finally took the little one to her house. Now, every time we go over for a visit, the males don't even look at eachother.....but everyone wants to play with the female. It is sad to see -- because usually my aunt's dog and my female will race around and have fun - and my little Mr. Syd is left out.

....I guess they both have flashbacks of when they were puppies....
