this morning, we noticed that there are tiny blood spots all over the carpet. my question is how much blood is normal? we called our vet, and he said it just varies from dog to dog, but i thought i would ask here. also, she was shaking a bit and acting a little more tired than usual. is this normal for a heat cycle? having had little dogs for a while, i know that shaking occurs for any reason under the sun, but i just want to make sure that something is not wrong.

can anyone give me any more information?

thanks.

Fiona went into heat 1 day after she turned 6 months old, which made me had to postpone her spay surgery- it can last about 3 weeks. I would not let your dog around any stray dogs during this time. I had to get her a diaper, and get sanitary pads to put in her diaper. they dont bleed like we do, just drip out a bit. Fiona didnt bleed that much, but just to keep it cleaner we got her the diaper. when we werent home, we would leave her in her crate without it on. some dogs will really keep themselves clean, which fiona did, but i still used the diaper. she bled for really about a week and a couple days.....ususally the vet will wait about 3 weeks from when they go into heat. Fiona was scheduled for her spay 11/4, came into heat 11/1 and ended up getting spayed 11/25. so all is well now. Are you planning on getting her fixed?
