This is great advice, and it works very well on mine. Also, if your dog jumps on you when you first come home from somewhere, come in the house and ignore them until they calm down, then go to THEM. Otherwise, if you pet them or pick them up when you first get home, you're reinforcing the excited/jumping behavior.
